Chert and flint

Microcrystalline silica occurring as nodules and beds in limestone and chalk; flint is the chalk variety.

Microcrystalline silica occurring as nodules and beds in limestone and chalk; flint is the chalk variety. Silicified fossils weather out of chert and are freed from limestone by acid.
