Whiskey Bridge, Brazos River

Burleson / Brazos, Texas, United States

Whiskey Bridge on the Brazos River west of Bryan, Texas, exposes the middle Eocene Stone City Formation, a shell bed of hundreds of small, perfectly preserved snails and clams that Texas A&M geology students have collected for a century. It is a free, legal and reliable site for Eocene molluscs and micro-shark teeth. Bring bags for damp sieved sediment and consolidate the aragonite shells at home.
