Rose quartz

Rose quartz is pink massive quartz from Brazil, Madagascar and South Dakota, sold by the ton as tumbled stones and carvings; crystallised rose quartz (small pink crystals from Minas Gerais) is rare and valuable. The colour comes from microscopic dumortierite-like inclusions. Star rose quartz shows asterism when cut.

Fakes and treatments
Dyed quartz and glass imitate rose quartz; crystallised rose quartz clusters have been faked by gluing.
