Sodalite
Na8(Al6Si6O24)Cl2
Sodalite is the royal-blue feldspathoid of nepheline syenites, sold massive from Bancroft (Ontario, the 'Princess sodalite' mine), Brazil and Bolivia for carving and tumbling; crystals are rare (Mont Saint-Hilaire). It is often confused with lapis lazuli but lacks pyrite and is a duller blue. The tenebrescent variety hackmanite changes colour in UV.
