Daspletosaurus

Tyrannosaurid

Daspletosaurus is the heavy-built Campanian tyrannosaurid of Alberta and Montana, ancestral or close to Tyrannosaurus. Shed teeth from the Judith River and Two Medicine formations are sold as Daspletosaurus or simply 'Tyrannosauridae'; they cannot be told from Gorgosaurus teeth with confidence, so honest dealers say so. Teeth are robust with chisel-shaped denticles.
