Neuropteris
Seed-fern foliage
Neuropteris is the seed-fern (pteridosperm) foliage with tongue-shaped pinnules attached by a narrow base and arching veins, the most common plant in Mazon Creek concretions and Pennsylvanian shales of the eastern US and Europe. It is inexpensive, and large fronds in ironstone are handsome. Many species have been moved to Macroneuropteris and Laveineopteris.
