Trilobite

Redlichia

Early Cambrian trilobite

Redlichia is the early Cambrian trilobite of South Australia's Emu Bay Shale and of China, with a large semicircular head, long genal spines and many thoracic segments. Emu Bay specimens on Kangaroo Island are on private land and the export of Australian fossils requires a permit under the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act; Chinese Redlichia are subject to export controls. Genuine legal specimens are therefore uncommon in trade.
