Rhamphorhynchus muensteri is the long-tailed Solnhofen pterosaur with a diamond-shaped tail vane and needle teeth, known from over a hundred skeletons including specimens with wing membranes. It is one of the most valuable fossils sold from Germany; specimens are prepared in the round or as part and counterpart and are frequently restored where bones cross the split. Bavarian heritage law can restrict the export of exceptional specimens.
