Platystrophia

Ordovician orthid

Platystrophia is the strongly ribbed, biconvex Ordovician brachiopod that paves Cincinnatian limestone beds in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana; many species are now placed in Vinlandostrophia. It is common, cheap and legal from private sites and Caesar Creek. Whole shells with both valves are the norm.
